Chocolate Hazelnut Ganache cake

Based on Heston's exploding chocolate gateau but since tesco ran out of passionfruit, I made it with Raspberry intead :)

Heston mixed the popping candy into the shortbread crumbs. 
I found most of the popping candy has already popped by the time it was served. 
Therefore instead, we drizzle them on top just before we serve it :) 

We have also added toasted hazelnut with the chocolate ganache. 

It tastes like heaven :)

Hand & flowers

It's that time of the year again :p -- My birthday :) 
went to Hand & flowers again - it's our second visit. 
It only had one star when we first visited two years ago. 
It has become increasingly popular ever since Tom kerridge kept on winning The Great British Menu
(overheard that it is fully booked till June!!!) 

It is quite small.. so I guess I understand why they are so fully booked.. 
but it's very nicely decorated - very cozyyy :)

Started off with some whitebait - the same as last time... 
The bread had a very good crust and meaty in the middle :p 



Blowtorched Scottish Scallop with Warm Roast Chicken Bouillon, 
Morels, Nasturtium and Apple
- I love it a lot - the chicken bouillon was sooooo flavoursome.  but keith prefer the starter I ordered : 


Parfait of Duck and Foie Gras with Orange Chutney and Toasted Brioche
The parfait was soooooooo soft - like it melt in my mouth :p It goes very well with the chutney.  

Loin of Cotswold Venison with Rye Bread Sauce, Swiss Chard “Farci” and Peppered Sprouts
Meat was perfectly cooked but it was a little too salty for me.  


Slow Cooked Duck Breast with Savoy Cabbage, Duck Fat Chips and Gravy.
We have had that 2 years ago :p so there was no surprise.. 

Glazed Apple Tart with Burnt Milk Ice Cream.
The pastry was caramelized with a very chewy crust 
more apple would be nice :p 



Hand & Flowers Chocolate and Ale Cake with Salted Caramel and Muscovado Ice Cream
The salted caramel was hidden in the middle of the cake :p 


espresso .... to kill off the food coma after all those food :p
