Paparoti, Beijing - Kopi roti - Malaysian Coffee Bun

They are soooo goooood (and very fattening I'm sure.. )

I tried it out in Beijing - along  Nam luo guo xiang.
It's crumbly at the top and MEGAAAA soft in the middle
it costed 10 rmb and it was a complete delight..

Li Jia Cai - Imperial China Cuisine, Beijing

The restaurant is hidden in a hutong near hou hai
the taxi driver refused to drive into the hutong (coz it's like a maze of narrow roads)
so we had to walk from the nearest main street..

Started off with a selection of cold dishes.
my favourite ones are the tofu dishes

Sweet and sour ribs - perfectly cooked sauce that wasn't too thick

deep fried chicken breast

Prawn

slow cooked pork belly..
very soft

aubergine

fish

roast duck

clear winter melon soup

sugar coated haw, caramelized date and walnut

overall I really enjoyed the food
there was no extravagant ingredient ... but everything was perfecftly cooked.
there were way too many food.. its impossible to finish it all.
the food was served a little bit too quickly though.

Da Dong - Beijing

Chinese Cabbage with Saffron sauce

The famous roast duck :)
their duck is famous for being crispy but not oily

tofu cooked in two ways - one with pickled vegetable, another with XO sauce with dried scallops

fruit - love the sugarcoated Chinese cranberry
