Kyushu/Chugoku Japan Day 2 - Dazaifu / Fukuoka

Japanese breakfast at Hakata station

only 480 yen and you get all these!

It was simple but good :) very filling

After that, we took the train to Daizaifu 太宰府

Its a bit like kyoto - with the main street packed with little eateries and souvenir shops.
Dazaifu's specialties are these little grilled mochi cake called umegae mochi, filled with red bean paste.
Very nice when warm.  You will find many stalls selling them there

It's a very picturesque little town.
Not THAT much going on.. but def worth making the trip

Kyushu national museum on the right
(not a must go)

Lunch time! we just picked  random eatery as we were starving!

Katsu don witth udon

Tempura with matcha soba

Just took a photo of the Starbucks there :p didnt go in..I swear

Strawberry mochi!

We went back to Fukuoka castle and walked around the park.

went right up the top and the view was AMAZING!

Then I just walked around the shopping malls in Tenjin . got some Japanese patisserie

Being a foodie, I always research and make a list of recommended restaurants before setting off for holiday :p I've used tabelog.com a lot when I was planning this trip.
Found this seafood restaurant there :)

It is quite hidden around the residential area near the canal city
まかない屋
福岡市博多区住吉2-15-3

It's packed with locals which is  a good sign.

I love plum wine :)

Sashimi platter

Plum Chazuke

Another platter for grilling

we arent 100% sure what keith is grilling there.  It tastes a bit like dried squid, which was very nice.
